David Roth Anne Hills
an evening of folk, joke, and hope songs
David Roth comes back to the midwest (AND Unity of Kalamazoo) with his unique brand of original music - hilarious, poignant, inspirational, and thought-provoking. David's resume includes 23 years of full-time singing, top honors at two of the country's premier songwriter festivals - Kerrville (TX) and Falcon Ridge (NY), and his songs have found their way to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, the Kennedy Center, Peter, Paul, & Mary concerts, NASA's Goddard Space Center (David's "Rocket Science" went up on the Space Shuttle "Atlantis" last year!), and 10 recordings on the Wind River and Stockfisch (Germany) labels. With a 2009 Posi-Award for excellence in positive music, two national anthems for the NBA's Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls, and appearances at concert halls, conferences, trainings and retreats throughout North America, David's "heavy-mental" music strikes many chords, hearts, and minds.
Anne Hills was one of original founders of Hogeye Music in Evanston (IL) and built her musical career in the Chicago area. She has recorded more than 20 albums while touring across North America and in the UK, receiving numerous honors including the 2005 and 2006 Pennsylvania Partner's in the Arts Project Stream grant awards, the WFMA 2002 Kate Wolf Memorial Award, and The Kerrville Music Foundation's Outstanding Female Vocalist of the Year. Her duet children's recording "Never Grow Up" with Cindy Mangsen on Flying Fish Records was chosen for the coveted 1998 Parents' Choice Award. Anne's commitment to social justice (receiving a Masters Degree in Social Work with honors on Mother's Day and recipient of the 2005 Polizzi Award for Dedication and Service in the Field of Social Work) and to children keeps her busy with benefit concerts and community service projects. Anne also has Michigan roots, and she and David are long-time friends and collaborators.
